Level Three with Achievement Standards

Entry Requirement

It is strongly recommended to have completed Level 2 Dance. However, this is not compulsory.

Students wishing to participate in the senior Dance courses should have previous dance experience in one or more styles. Students need to be confident at performing in their style. However, with the permission of the HOD, students may be approved to enter a Dance course at any level.

Course Outline

During the course the students will be able to:          

  • Explore dance elements within a variety of solo and group performances

  • Use elements and conventions to structure, record and perform devised choreography

  • Understand and reflect on dance choreography processes and performance

  • Respond to a variety of genres from a range of historical and contemporary contexts

91589   Choreograph a dance to develop and resolve ideas    4 credits

91590   Perform a solo or duet dance     4 credits

91591   Perform a group dance    4 credits

91592   Perform a repertoire of contrasting dances    6 credits

Where Does It Lead

The course leads to tertiary studies, at Performing Arts and Dance Studies Departments in Universities, Performing Arts and Dance Courses and Colleges of Education.
