Hockey Report

The two Kavanagh hockey teams had to play late games at 8:40pm on a very chilly Tuesday night. The 1st XI took on OBHS whilst the development team had a Kings team.

The development team were locked in a tense battle and were sitting nil all until the last ten minutes when the Kings lads popped two goals past goalie Jamie Hall. Kavanagh had many attacks into the Kings circle and finally managed to score with a minute remaining, Quinn Wilson doubling his tally for the year. This team continues to improve on a weekly basis, when one considers how many of the team had never played hockey before this season. They should be very proud of how far they've come. Several of the seasoned members of this team will slot into the team for the mixed tournament in September with ease.

The Firsts scored early after pushing into the Kings circle and gaining a penalty corner, which Graysen Thomson deflected in a powerful Ellery Campbell shot. Sam Sherriff made a welcome return with immediate impact putting his body on the line, and contributing on attack and defence. Beldon Webb had his best game in a Kavanagh uniform, playing out of position at half, showing great pace and power. Another Thomson goal saw us deserving leaders going into the break, but Kings fought back slotting in a goal with 10 minutes to play. We finished strongly and thoroughly deserved the victory.
