A group of Year 10 Economics students participated in the annual Growing NZ Innovative Challenge Day and were members of three of the four winning teams

The students worked alongside students from other schools to work on real challenges within the primary industries.

They were asked to develop and evaluate potential solutions; build a prototype solution; consider stakeholders; and persuasively present a solution. The focus was on incorporating future technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, GPS, Nanotechnology and Smart Technology.

Experts from the primary industries provided advice to the students and judged their presentations. Congratulations also to Mariya Jose and Sarah Al-Balushi who won prizes for Best Speakers.

Today’s Otago Daily Times has an article about this event: https://www.odt.co.nz/business/local-business/primary-sector-challenges-put-pupils.
