Implications of Google App access for our students

Google made changes in October to how third-party applications using a Google sign-in access works
As the majority of our students are under 18, we as a school have to approve which third-party apps are allowed to be accessed by our students through their school Google accounts. This is partially to prevent students from granting malicious apps access to their data. It also protects all contacts of the student, which in our case is anyone with a Trinity Google account.
The school has decided that as of 2024, students will not be able to use their school Google account to sign into any non approved third party applications. This includes their social media accounts such as TikTok, Instagram, Messenger and so on. These sites are blocked by the school anyway which means any student access to these during school hours is through their own data or ways that bypass the school's filtering rules.
If students want to be able to use these applications outside of school, they will require a personal email account.
