Do you want to boost your public speaking confidence and style? Develop your depth of analysis? Build on your critical reasoning and listening skills? Become more persuasive? Then the Trinity Debating Club is for you!
Students of any age are welcome to come along to the Trinity Debating Club’s weekly practices, but the local debating competition is open to students in Years 9-13. Junior and senior debating teams participate in a range of events throughout the year such as the Dunedin Secondary Schools Debating Competition, the Otago Regional One-Day Debating Competition, the annual Trinity Catholic College Teacher vs Student Debate, and the junior and senior debates in the Bishop’s Shield competition.
Being part of the Trinity Debating Club is a great way to make new friends, learn valuable skills, and have fun.

Kavanagh is the only school to have both Senior and Junior teams in the Otago Finals

Over the weekend Kavanagh’s Debating club went to their annual regional debating competition to compete against schools from all over Otago and Southland. The competition involves five debates over the course of the weekend and provides the chance to get great feedback from university-level debaters to improve their skills.
