Entry Requirement

A Religious Education course is compulsory for all Year 13 students.   

All Students must attend a two-day retreat

Course Outline

Specific topics covered are:

 

  1. Finding Meaning - We explore Catholic and Secular answers to the big questions of life, e.g. Why are we here?
  2. Sects, Cults and New Religious Movements - We examine the definition of religious expressions and explore different ways people live out belief outside orthodox religion.
  3. Biblical Studies Gospel of John - We examine how different methods of reading help us gain meaning from the text. We look at the Catholic Church's teachings regarding the Bible. (Optional Standard)
  4. Ethics - We explore the ethics of human reproduction and the body from a Catholic perspective.

 

Retreat days form part of the overall programme as does participation in the various expressions of faith associated with our Special Character.
