None. However to obtain maximum benefit from this course it would be useful to have completed some Te Reo courses and have had some experiences in being in a Kapa Haka group.

Course Outline

● Te Ao Haka refers to the cultural application of dance within a Māori world view.
● Identify, explain and apply key features that are distinctive to Te Ao Haka
● Use and perform the key features across the various disciplines eg. wiri, pukana,
takahia, stance, formation etc.
● Explain/demonstrate different iwi performance styles and genres i.e. waiata ā
ringa, poroporo aki, ngeri and haka
● Explain purpose and context of a performance.
