The new term brought with it some exciting news for two Trinity College students rising up the ranks in the world of handball!
During Term 2 of this year, Isaac Tili and Jack Waterworth participated in the New Zealand Youth Handball team trial sessions. This included two training and selection camps in Christchurch, and ongoing fitness and training work in Dunedin.
Following the second New Zealand training camp in Christchurch during the recent school holidays, there was a nervous wait for both Isaac and Jack to find out if they had been selected in the team. Last week, both boys received the exciting news that they had been selected for the New Zealand Youth Under 18 team!
Isaac, Jack and the NZ team will travel to Tahiti in December to compete in the International Handball Federation Trophy Oceania Qualification Tournament. They will compete against countries such as Australia, Samoa, Tonga and New Caledonia and attempt to qualify for the International Handball Federation World Champs. All games will be live-streamed on YouTube if you want to support them!
An amazing accomplishment for this dedicated duo, and we congratulate you both on this fantastic achievement. What an incredible experience it will be!
