Come and celebrate Māori Language Week in the library.
Te Wiki o te Reo Māori is an annual celebration for all New Zealanders to show their support for the Māori language. The theme for Te Wiki 2024 is "Ake ake ake – A Forever Language." This theme highlights the resilience, adaptability, and endurance of te reo Māori. It also symbolizes the ongoing commitment of New Zealanders to embracing and learning te reo Māori for generations to come.
The library is excited to offer some fun activities to encourage you to celebrate te reo Māori next week. There will be colouring in, weaving harakeke putiputi-flax flowers and spot prizes all week for the students who attempt to kōrero Māori mai-speak to me in Māori. Let's embrace this opportunity and celebrate te reo Māori together.
