Tena koutou katoa

We, Camila Barnes and Ellie Sutherland, are the Year 10 Special Character Leaders for 2025.

This week we enter the third week of six of Lent, marking the halfway point. Let us take this time to reflect on the past three weeks, and recognise how we have been working both for, and through God. We take a moment to recognise the hard moments in the past three weeks, and what made us strong to get through them.

This week, the responsorial psalm is an invitation to sing joyfully to the Lord and to not harden our hearts.

”Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;

Let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.”

Psalm 95:1

This is a reminder that to love God is to celebrate Him, and His love for us. That it is important to sing to Him, through the highs and lows of life - because He is the Rock of our salvation. For this week and the remaining three weeks of Lent time, set a goal to sing to God more than you have before, even in the fleeting and mundane moments.

“And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” Romans 5:5

Loving Father,

So many times I turn away from you

and always you welcome me back.

Your mercy and love gives me confidence

Thank you for the invitation to share, fast and pray

so that you can form a new heart within me.

Your powerful compassion for my weaknesses

leads me to ask for mercy

and await with great hope the Easter joy you share with us.

Blessings to you all,

Ngā mihi nui,

Camila & Ellie.
