For the first time in six years, Trinity Catholic College had a representative at the Aotearoa Spelling Bee!

Last weekend, Samuel and a parent won an all expenses paid trip to Wellington to compete in the National Spelling Bee. Congratulations, for being one of 23 spellers in the nationals (9 year 9s and 14 year 10s) who came from as far North as Whangarei and as far south as Dunedin.

The spelling bee has been running since 2005. This year, the overall competition started out with nearly 5000 year 9 and 10 spellers from across the country. In the final, Samuel placed 4th equal.

Among the tricky words that the spellers had were: coercion, exhilarating, sciatica, myriad, tumultuous, skirmish, commiserate.

Trinity is so proud of your achievement and we hope you compete again in 2026.
