11PE Grid Iron Greatness

Last Friday, our Year 11 Physical Education students took part in their annual Gridiron Tournament, enjoying a fantastic day of competition in the sunshine. Six teams took to the field, with many students making a great effort to dress up and bring energy and team spirit to the event. The games were closely contested throughout the day, with several tight matches leading to an exciting final.
Throughout the tournament, students demonstrated kotahitanga (unity and togetherness) by working collaboratively to develop and apply different gridiron strategies, supporting teammates, and adapting their play as a group. Experiences like this help prepare students for NCEA Level 1 Physical Education (AS92017), where they explore how strategies can be used to build collaboration, collective action, and inclusion in team environments.
It was a great day of sport, teamwork, and learning, and we were grateful for the beautiful weather to make the most of the occasion.
