Theatresports Triumph

Last Sunday, two Trinity teams competed in the Dunedin Regional Theatresports competition run by Christchurch’s Court Theatre.

The Auditorium was filled with mayhem, laughter, and plenty of entertainment on the weekend as teams of students from different Dunedin high schools improvised their way through a variety of games and scenarios, competing against one another in the hope of scoring the most points from the judges.

The Trinity team made up of Mitchell Atkinson, Riley Culling, Sophie Jonathan, and Henry Lapham won the first heat putting them through to the final later in the day. The other Trinity team which included Theodora Clarke-Wallace, Made Newson, Hermione Sparks, and Martyna Twardowska put in a fantastic effort coming second in their heat.

The final involved just the winning teams from each heat - Trinity Catholic College versus King’s High School. The competition was insanely close with both schools ending up with the same score meaning that it all came down to a tiebreaker - which Trinity won!!

Mitchell, Riley, Sophie, and Henry are now off to represent Trinity and Dunedin at the South Island Theatresports Finals on Sunday 31 August in Christchurch.

Congratulations to all the students involved with Theatresports - and good luck to the team competing again at the end of the month.
