We are incredibly proud to celebrate the recent selection and participation of three of our students, Susana Mafi, Maria Moataane, and Esther Moataane, in the NZ Warriors & Harvey Norman Heartland Female Athlete Programme.
Representing the Southern Zone and Otago Rugby League, the girls had an intensive two-day camp designed to develop the next generation of elite athletes. This was a prestigious opportunity, allowing them to learn directly from top-tier professionals in the sport, including NRLW Warriors Head Coach Ron Griffiths and standout players Mele Hufanga and Laishon Albert-Jones.
Throughout the "action-packed" weekend, Susana, Maria, and Esther engaged in a comprehensive high-performance curriculum, including:
On-Field Technical Sessions: Refining skills under the guidance of professional coaches.
Strength and Conditioning: Specialised gym work tailored for female athletes.
Holistic Workshops: Educational sessions focused on nutrition, wellbeing, and navigating social media as a modern athlete.
The energy and "nuggets of gold" shared by the Warriors staff and players provided our students with invaluable insights that extend far beyond the field. Susana, Maria, and Esther return to us not just with improved skills, but with a deeper understanding of the dedication required to succeed at the highest levels of the game.
Brilliant work girls - keep training hard!
