Ōtepoti Literacy Challenge

It was awesome to see our junior school get involved in the very first Ōtepoti Literacy Challenge held at Tahuna Normal Intermediate.

We sent three fantastic teams from Yr7-8 to tackle a mix of fast-paced book trivia, cryptic word puzzles, and on-the-spot creative writing. The big focus for our students was the book Nine Girls by Stacey Grigg, which they had all brilliantly read and studied beforehand to prep for the challenge.

Our students showed amazing teamwork, brainpower, and sportsmanship throughout the afternoon. They represented our school beautifully and most importantly, had an absolute blast doing it!

A massive thank you to the Otago Literacy Association for putting on such a cool new event, and to Mrs McGarry who came along to cheer them on. We’re already excited for next year!
