Blue & Gold bound

Our Junior Rugby team finished their season last weekend at Forsyth Barr Stadium in what proved to be an enthralling final. It was a true final, with momentum swings, moments of brilliance, tension, and a sprinkling of controversy. In the dying moments, King's High School came from behind to score and held on for a dramatic three-point win.

There has been huge improvement in the team this season, and a few of our boys have been noticed by the Otago Metro Rugby selectors. Congratulations to Tommy McEntyre, Charlie Sutherland, Eamon Henderson and Jake Lucas, who have been named in the Otago U14 Metro Rugby Blue and Gold representative squads for this season.

The boys have a big month of footy ahead with rep training starting next week, then travel to Balclutha to play Southland and Central Otago on Saturday. The next day, the boys travel to Westport to join the team and play in the South Island Co-Ed Schools U15 Rugby Tournament as part of NZ Secondary Schools Tournament Week. On 12 September, Gore plays host to the second round of the U14 Rugby Festival. Karawhuia e tama mā (go for it, boys, and all the best)!
