Workplace Wellbeing Challenge ✨

On Wednesday afternoon, a brave crew of staff - Ms. Bone, Mr. Earl, Mr. and Mrs. Harris, Mrs. Tupa’i and Mr. Sole laced up their trainers and headed to the Edgar Centre to take on the Sport Otago Workplace Wellbeing Challenge.

The challenge? Teams of three battling it out in a high-energy triathlon event:
1.5km row
3km on the Kaiser bike
1.5km run (a.k.a. 8 deceptively long laps)

From the very first pull on the rower, it was clear this was going to be no casual Wednesday workout. Mr. Earl and Mrs. Harris powered through the 1500m row with determination, maintaining an impressive pace between 1:30 and just over 2:00 per 500m - rowing like Olympians!

Next up: the 3km bike leg. Enter Mr. Sole, whose Ironman pedigree was on full display as he and Mrs. Tupa’i powered through the distance with determination.

Then came the ultimate test of will: the 1.5km run. Ms. Bone and Mr. Harris hit the ground flying. Thanks to Sole’s speedy bike leg, Harris had a slight lead... but Bone was right on his heels the entire way. In an epic display of speed and competitive spirit, both runners clocked a blistering 3:25 split - a pace most of us only dream of!

🏅 Final verdict: Team "Lesson Plans and Lycra" (Harris, Sole & Harris) just managed to hold off the "Whiteboard Warriors" (Earl, Tupa’i & Bone) in a photo-finish-style ending. A lot of sweat, smiles, and rivalry. Bring on the next challenge!
