Changes to Yr7-9 Mid Year Reports

As part of the Ministry of Education’s and our school’s renewed focus on lifting student achievement, we have made some changes to our learning and assessment programmes.

This means that from the start of this year, we have been changing from the old to the new National Curriculum in Years 7 and 8. This includes new teaching, assessment methods and content in the cases of literacy and numeracy. We have also introduced changes from the new Religious Education curriculum.

Because of this, you could see a change in your child's expected progress or achievement compared to previous years, which may be the result of changes in the curriculum expectations for your child's year level. If you have concerns or questions about your child's achievement, we strongly suggest you talk with your child's teacher or kaiako. They will also have used their own observations, classroom tasks and other tests to report on the progress your child is making.

The Literacy World and Maths World reports in years 7-9 include numerical data from standardised tests. Mainly, these are a four-digit score from the online e-asTTle assessment tool. The ‘expected range’ for each year level is stated at the top. These results are from one test and are used to track progress and readiness for the co-requisites at year 10 and above. For more details about your child’s ability and progress, please refer to the teachers’ comments or contact them directly for more clarification.
