Congratulations Féile and Dunedin U16 Netball

Congratulations to Féile Ryan who was part of the Dunedin under 16 netball team that recently won the U16 Tupuranga Championship - South Island Representative tournament in Christchurch over Kings Birthday weekend.

In the lead up to the Tupuranga Championship, the team played tournaments in Oamaru and Balclutha where they had impressive wins over South Otago (49-22), Invercargill (50-25) and Central Lakes (48-23).

The championship tournament in Christchurch was a tough event, with 3 games per day. In day 1, the team had wins over Nelson (33-15), Selwyn (46-21) and South Canterbury (39-24). Day 2 started with North Canterbury where Dunedin won 38-22, followed by meeting the other top of the table team, Christchurch Whero, where they lost 38-29. The team bounced back in the next game to beat Mid Canterbury 47-17. This took them into semi finals with 5 wins and 1 loss in pool play.

Day three started with the semi final v Christchurch Ma where they had a strong game with a convincing win 34-19. This secured them a spot in the final.

In the final they met Christchurch Whero again and held the lead the entire game to take the win for first place in A grade, 34-29.

This was a great experience for Féile who took the court in every game at goal attack over the 3 tournaments. All players contributed over the course of the weekend to taking first place in this South Island championship of very high quality netball.
