First place for Trinity One, and Benjamin Fischer won the best speaker for the tournament
Congratulations to Trinity One: Xavier Fuss, Skyla Knopp and Ziva Curtis;
Trinity Two: Thomas Walker, Benjamin Fischer and Sasanka Wickramadegara for being placed in the top four in the Dunedin Schools Debating (DSD) competition.
In order to eliminate a Trinity team, both teams were placed against each other in the semis, arguing: This house supports mandatory voting in general elections. Both teams put up a great fight, but in the end Trinity One won and went on to the finals against Otago Girls Three.
Trinity One's teamwork in the final was amazing, and their arguments were flawless. They built a strong case against Otago Girls' Three, affirming that this house supports open entrance into university. The vote was unanimous, and Trinity/Kavanagh took home the trophy for the first time since 1992!
On top of this, the adjudicators announced the top five speakers for the tournament, and we were all proud to hear Benjamin Fisher won the top speaker award! (1st Place!)
Such a proud moment for Trinity - all students keep turning up to practice, listening to their coaches/adjudicators and continue to grow.
