YEAR 7 & 8 END-OF-TERM ONE REPORT

Touch

Year 7 & 8 Touch finished the competition at the end of last term with our Year 8 Boys’ teams ending the season strongly. With a banner and a top four finish, the teams have worked hard, improved, persevered and have done the mahi. Our Year 7 & 8 Girls’ team won their Development Grade Final against a strong Columba College team, 5 - 3. The two Year 7 Boys’ team performed well all term and have laid strong foundations for the term four competition. Over the past ten weeks, many of our Year 7 & 8 students got to school early on Thursdays to attend the Trinity Catholic College Touch academy. The academy focussed on building skills, knowledge and game awareness. As students progress through the touch levels, the game becomes more and more technical. We saw huge improvements with all of our Touch players and the sport at Trinity is growing and looking strong for term four. Thank you to our super coaches Mr Michael Jago, Mr Harris, Mr Haig, Mr Sutherland and Mrs Tupa’i for coaching and supporting our teams.

Volleyball

On the last Friday of term 1 the Year 8 boys volleyball team played in the final of Division 1 of the Year 7 and 8 competition. Well done to the boys for defeating Tahuna in the final and finishing off a great season. This is the 3rd season in a row that our Year 8 boys team have become CHAMPIONS! The skill and teamwork shown by this group was first class and this bodes well for the future as they continue to develop and refine their skills. Well done.

A special mention also to our Girls Orange team who finished a very commendable 3rd place. This was a great reward for a consistent and hardworking season. It was great to see the natural skill in play but the game and team unity was just as impressive. Well done girls - fantastic job.

Water Polo

Our Year 7 and 8 water polo team have had a fabulous season winning most of their games (we had one draw) and qualifying top team in the competition. We played Fairfield in the semi finals and won and then went on to win the final against a strong Tahuna team to finish top of the competition. A fabulous season was had by all with fantastic development of skills and a passion for playing. Our young players settled into the game and grew in confidence as the season progressed. Congratulations on a fabulous season and we are looking forward to seeing what you can achieve in term 4.

Secondary Water Polo

Our senior water polo players have also had a good season, going from strength to strength. They played very competitive games against mainly male teams and had some great wins. We have a young (primarily year 9) team and are incredibly proud of how well they are playing. They finished 7 out of 16 teams.  A big thank you to Riley for his coaching expertise.
