Yet Another Trinity Win in Debating

Joseph Kelly, Akein Wickramagedara and Ché McGivern won the senior debate trophy and all received a top 10 speaking award!
Congratulations to our senior debate team, Akein, Ché and Joseph, for winning the Dunedin Secondary Schools Debating (DSD) Competition - securing Trinity as the champions of both junior and senior debating in Dunedin! (Two weeks ago, both junior Trinity teams made the semis, and Trinity One won the junior tournament.)
These three students have been a team for four years and have strived for excellence since they formed. Their skill set has grown immensely over the years, where they: took on feedback from adjudicators to adapt, utilised the knowledge from their mentors to improve and studied their opponents' strategies. Due to all of this, they have gained continuous success. Columba One has been a hard team to beat, and Trinity One came second to them last year, but not this year, and we are so proud of them.
Not only did they win the tournament, but all three students were celebrated for their speaking ability, where they were placed in the top 10. Joseph placed 7th, Akein 3rd, and Ché won the top speaker for the whole tournament. Again, a testament to their hard work over the years and well deserved.
Ché, Joseph and Akein, you are amazing - enjoy these wins!
