On 29th Jan, Hyrox hit Auckland. If you don't know, Hyrox is a fitness race that is run all over the world, with athletes competing in age-group competitions to find the fastest and fittest around. The race consists of 8, 1km runs with 8 exercise stations between each run. These are designed to test the athlete's strength and endurance. This year, we had 3 teachers compete in Auckland, where we put our bodies on the line to race against the best.
Naomi Tupai and her husband, Paul, competed in the Mixed doubles competition, completing the course in an amazing time of 1:07.
Jordan Bone competed in the women's doubles event, completing the course in an incredible time of 1:12.
Craig Earl competed in the Pro Men's event with a great time of 1:28, and with this, he earned a win in his age group and secured a place in the World competition, which is to be held in Stockholm later in the year.
For Craig, the event was challenging, and the hot conditions made it even more so. Craig was happy to have won the competition, however in his humble way, said "there is always more to work on, especially with the world event coming up".
We think you are pretty amazing Craig, Naomi and Jordan! Thanks for inspiring our ākonga!
