A Message from our Principal

And just like that, it is the end of another school year. We celebrated our final school Mass together at midday and our junior students’ reverence and behaviour was impeccable. It was wonderful to see another talented group of young musicians and singers leading our singing, and our fabulous Chaplain, Father Hook, again made the Mass a very appropriate end to our school year as a Catholic community.
The Pantomime this year was again excellent. If you attended, I am sure that you were stunned, as was I, by the number of students who appeared for the finale. The largest cast yet, 180 students had the opportunity to shine on stage and learn new skills and confidence as the school year came to a close. Thank you to our Pantomime staff team and parent helpers who give so much time to make this a success. I would like to highlight Rebecca Meikle’s long and influential presence in our musicals and pantomimes, and PFA. Rebecca’s many, many hours and personal resource designing, creating and organising costumes for numerous musicals and pantomimes has been an absolute gift to our college. Rebecca’s time as a Trinity parent finished at the end of last year, but she has continued this year as part of the wardrobe team to ensure a smooth transition as she steps back and away from our performing arts. Thank you!
The Auditorium is having its refit over summer, and we look forward to seeing new chairs and carpet to begin the year. Thank you to those who have ‘sponsored a seat’ – it has truly helped with the massive financial investment this refurbishment has required. If this is something that interests you, we are still taking sponsorship donations, so please get in touch with our Business Manager bjarvie@trinity.school.nz if you would like to know more.
Tomorrow, as a staff we will farewell Anne-Marie Pulham who is retiring from her Science Technician role after 24 years. Thank you, Anne-Marie, for your commitment over many years and we wish you well as you enjoy a new pace of life.
We also farewell our Property Manager, Iain Davis, who has decided that it is time for another OE amongst other things. We will farewell Jeannine Davis, our wonderful Canteen Manager, early in Term One next year, so that she can join Iain on his adventures.
Thank you also to Jack Be, one of our Learning Assistants, who will finish tomorrow. Jack has been a very important support to some of our most special young learners in the Learning Hub and in classrooms.
Thank you to all these people for being important parts of our Trinity community and we wish them well for whatever the future brings.
We are now in the Second Week of Advent and below is a prayer to take into a peaceful Christmas holiday:
“Jesus, you entered our world on Christmas as the Prince of Peace. This Advent, as we strive to become the-best-version-of-ourselves, fill us with a deep and abiding peace. Help us share that peace with everyone we encounter, especially those who need it most. Amen.”
I wish you and your families a happy and holy Christmas.
Arohanui,
Kate Nicholson
