One of our fabulous Year 9 students, Paul Bertoli took part in the South Island Sailing Champs recently, and this is a summary of his time competing!
"On Saturday morning, I went to the South Island Championships for sailing. I was on an open skiff, which is a small one-person boat. It was hard conditions as the wind was very gusty. I came out to be 0.9 points behind the first person on the first day, getting 2 wins out of 5. Sunday's conditions were even tougher. The wind was stronger, and I kept my overall second place, winning one of the 4 races. So I am the vice champion in the open skiff in the South Island. In the end, I had a great time and improved lots".
Congratulations Paul! What a fantastic effort participating in the highly skilful sport of sailing.
