Cyber Safety Presentation

By Kate Nicholson | Posted: Wednesday August 23, 2023

Next week we are fortunate to have John Parsons, Cybersafety Education Presenter, working with our Catholic schools in Dunedin.

He will present to all our Trinity students on Tuesday, and he will lead a staff meeting after school for us.

You can read more about John on his website https://www.citizen21.co.nz/ and you may have also seen him on the news over the years when he has been asked to give comment on cybersafety issues involving children and teenagers.

John will also be presenting to parents at two sessions on Tuesday (teens) and Wednesday (children and pre-teens) evenings in our auditorium.

Attached are the two fliers for your information. We encourage you to attend these information evenings. The secret online life of our teenagers can certainly be a mystery to the adults in their lives and it can also do much damage as they are growing up. John comes from the perspective of 'taking our values into the online world', something that resonates well with our college ethos.

Unfortunately it is winter tournament week and some of our students will miss these sessions, but John Parsons is in demand throughout New Zealand, and even in booking a year ahead this was the only week available to us.

We look forward to seeing you next week.
