The Christofoletti whānau had an amazing time at the Queenstown Autumn Open 2025, hosted by NZBJJF (NZ Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation). The three sisters competed for 'The Forge Grappling' and all came home with Gold Medals!
Trinity Catholic College Year 10 student Izabella Christofoletti had to face a tough opponent, but with two wins via armbar submission, she secured her Gold in brilliant style.
Younger sister Thainara also had a challenging run — she faced one of her own teammates in the final. As they say, "we’re all friends at the gym…......until the ref says fight!". Thainara stayed focused, won by points, and took home Gold as well!
A highlight for the Christofoletti family was the performance of youngest daughter Carmelia. She also had to go up against a teammate, and the match was a crowd favorite. Despite being so young, the two competitors put on an incredible show that drew in a large crowd of cheering supporters. Carmelia's opponent, was a fearless little fighter too. In the final 15 seconds, Carmelia secured a rear-naked choke submission to clinch the win — a very proud moment for the whole Christofoletti family!
There is no slowing down for this talented trio — next up, the Christofoletti Sisters have their eyes set on the South Island Championship in Christchurch this July. Watch this space!
