Trinity Year 10A Junior Girls Volleyball season

The Junior South Island Secondary Schools Volleyball Championships were held in Invercargill recently and the 10A girls started off with a challenging pool - Nelson College for Girls, St Margaret’s and Craighead. The Trinity Girls played these teams all on the first day and came away with 1 win against Craighead. This placed them third in their pool where they then played Rangi Ruru, Marian College and Otago Girls High School on the second day. This competition day was filled with some intense and well played three set games. Eventually the girls won against Rangi Ruru and lost to Otago Girls (in three sets) and Marian College.
On the last day our team had three games lined up against Wakatipu, Craighead and Rangi Ruru. The girls lost the first game against Wakatipu, however it was one of their best games this season as they showed great courage and fight to take a set off a very strong hitting and serving team.
We won our second game to Craighead and in our final for 13th/14th the girls sadly went down to Rangi. However it wasn’t done without a massive effort from the whole team playing to their best, down to the last point. The growth and skill set of this team has developed so much over this year, and the team thinks 'South Islands' was the perfect way to wrap up junior volleyball for the season with some very high level games. We wish them all the best for senior volleyball.
A special thanks to Lauren Jarvie who was our manager, and Vanessa Clark who also managed and coached (assistant) - we couldn’t have done it without you!!
Thanks to the amazing coaches, Molly Kirk and Paige Clark.
A huge thank you also to Arron and Lisa from Four Square Port Chalmers for always sponsoring the girls and supporting the team at every tournament.
Trinity also had 2 teams competing in the South Island Secondary Schools Beach Volleyball Champs in Invercargill, and both placed 3rd in their divisions. Congratulations to Susana and Harper, and Chelsea and Harper - amazing work!
(Note: Susana and Harper won a BRONZE medal in Division One - a fantastic achievement for these two girls as they played in awful conditions and fought back from 16 - 19 down to win 22 - 20. This follows on from a brilliant season for these two girls who were also named in the Otago Junior Champs Tournament team a couple of weeks prior).
