The Act of Service

Service is about more than simply helping someone it is about noticing the people around us and choosing to make a difference. In our school community, service can be found in the small things: helping a friend, welcoming someone who feels left out, giving our time, or showing kindness when it is needed most.

As Christians, we are called to serve others with the same love and compassion that Jesus showed us. Service reminds us that we are not here only for ourselves. Every small act of kindness has the power to make someone’s day brighter and strengthen our community.

Sometimes we may think that making a difference requires doing something big, but even the smallest acts of service can have a lasting impact. When we choose to serve, we become a reflection of God’s love and help create a community where everyone feels valued, supported and cared for.

“Serve one another in love.” — Galatians 5:13

Prayer for Service

Dear God,

Thank you for giving us opportunities each day to serve and care for others. Help us to notice those who may need a helping hand, a kind word, or simply someone to listen.

Give us generous hearts that are willing to give our time and energy without expecting anything in return. Help us to follow the example of Jesus by choosing compassion, kindness and love.

May our actions, both big and small, make a difference in the lives of those around us. Guide us to be people who bring hope, joy and love into our school and wider community.

Amen.
