Year 10 Netball Tournament 2025

Last Thursday afternoon, our annual Year 10 Netball Tournament took place - and what an afternoon it was. With a record 13 teams entering the competition, the courts were buzzing as players battled it out across two highly competitive pools. Every game came with intensity, teamwork, and determination, and by the end of pool play the standings were incredibly tight. Only the top team from each pool progressed to the final, making every point and turnover matter.

The final itself proved to be one of the most thrilling in the past few years. The Meerkats (10VAN) faced off against Harry’s Heroes, a team whose name appears frequently on the tournament trophy. The Meerkats dominated long stretches of the final minutes, creating multiple opportunities under the hoop but struggling to convert. Harry’s Heroes held strong defensively, and as the final whistle blew, the scoreboard showed a draw.

To break the deadlock, the game moved into golden point. Both teams worked the ball patiently and bravely to their shooting ends, each taking chances at the hoop as spectators held their breath. After several tense exchanges, it was the Meerkats who finally put the ball through the net, claiming the championship in a gripping finish.

It was an awesome afternoon for our Year 10 students, who showed great sportsmanship, positivity, and interpersonal skills throughout the competition.

A huge thank you to the PE team for organising the event, the Year 10 teachers for their support, our fantastic student referees, and Mr Sutherland for helping the day run smoothly.

Well done to everyone involved — we can’t wait for next year!
