NZ Herald Series: Under the Influence

Following on from our 'Keeping Safe Online Evening' last week, I recommend all parents watch NZ Herald's Video Series "Under the Influence", a six part documentary that looks into the online world of teenagers growing up in New Zealand. It examines hard-hitting topics such as pornography, the manosphere, social media addiction, body image, algorithms, and mental health. This is not an overseas documentary that we might think isn't relevant to young people in Dunedin. Instead, local Dunedin students and staff from St Hilda's Collegiate, and teenage boys from St Bede's College in Christchurch, are interviewed and they talk about their experiences. This series will give parents a real insight into what their own children are seeing and experiencing online. You can find the documentary here."
