Final Trinity Debate for Successful Trio

Akein, Chē and Joseph finished their journey by making the semi-finals of the Dunedin Secondary Schools Debating (DSD) competition. They were placed against the challenging Columba One team, and the motion was in Columba's favour.

The Trinity Debate Club gained wide recognition at the prize-giving. Ziva Curtis, from Trinity Two, won the Most Promising Speaker award and ranked 7th out of 10 in the top 10 speaker awards. Akein gained the 3rd top speaker award, and Che, the 2nd top speaker of the tournament.

It has been an amazing experience watching Akein, Chē and Joseph over the years, and there is so much to be proud of. Not only have they put Trinity on the debating trophies for DSD and Bishop Shield, but they have also represented Otago at Nationals, and in Chē's case, had two wins at Nationals.

What is also inspiring to see is the talent coming through with the younger students, such as Ziva Curtis, who has been selected as a reserve for the National team and has won awards locally. May the knowledge and skills be passed down so others can enjoy this success too.
