The Great Kiwi Write-Off Winners for 2025

Two students in Year 8 and five students in Year 9 took home the prizes for round four of the Stylefit writing competition

Trinity Catholic College had four class in Year 7-9 take part in round four of the national writing competition, The Great Kiwi Write-Off! There were many great prizes handed out, including tablets for our first prize winners!

The theme for this round was betrayal and our winners did not disappoint the judges.

Judging the Year 7 and 8 round was Tessa Duder who appreciated the, "interesting mix of genres (sci-fi, folk tale, historical) and varied points of view" of the participants. Congratulations to the following students:

Alex O'Brien: 1st place for his story, "Rain World"

Sasanka Wickramagedara: Highly Commended for her story, "Last Month"

Jugging the Year 9 and 10 round was Vicky Adin and Trinity Catholic College won all the top five prizes for this round. Congratulations to the following students:

Kailee Royo: 1st place for her story, "Waves of Treachery"

Mackenzie Thompson: 2nd place for her story, "The Recovery"

Matthea Mendoza: 3rd place for her story, "Cross-Country"

Millena Lemm: Highly commended for her story, "The Dusty Chair"

Tom Hoexum: Highly commended for his story, "The Figure"
