Hip Hop, TheatreSports & Bishop’s Shield!

It’s going to be a busy weekend for the performing arts with Trinity students participating in three different competitions!

On Friday afternoon a group of 21 students will head off to Oamaru to compete in drama, public speaking, and debating as part of the Bishop’s Shield Competition which is held each year between the Catholic high schools in the Dunedin Diocese - Verdon College, St Peter’s College, Trinity Catholic College, and St Kevin’s College. We’re looking forward to a weekend full of wonderful team spirit, fierce competition, and great camaraderie.

On Saturday eight Trinity crews will participate in the Otago/Southland Regional Hip Hop Competition at the Regent Theatre here in Dunedin. There are 40 students from Year 7 through to Year 13 involved in hip hop this year (including coaches) and they’ve been practising every week since Term 1. We hope they have a fantastic time representing Trinity and dancing on the Regent stage.

And, finally, Trinity has two teams entered in a Dunedin TheatreSports Competition being run by Christchurch’s Court Theatre here at the Trinity Auditorium on Sunday. This is bound to provide plenty of entertainment and laughs as students improvise their way through various scenes and games.

Good luck to all the Trinity students involved in these competitions - have fun and enjoy your time on the stage after all the energy and effort you’ve put into preparing for your performances.
