Readers Cup Success

As a team, we participated in the Otago Regional Readers Cup with excellent results. We are really proud of ourselves as we came 3rd out of all Otago Year 9 schools with only one point off from 1st!

The Readers Cup is when multiple teams from different schools all around Otago, read 6 books over 1 term, and then answer questions about them as a team. Afterwards they have a celebration with a lot of different snacks and drinks.

Our team consisted of Fraser Chamberlain, Beth Chapman, Conall Higgs, Naomi Pushenko, and Sasanka Wickramagedara.

This year we read the following six books:

• Code name: Kingfisher by Liz Kessler

• Red Star Rebels by Amie Kaufman

• Under the Surface by Diana Urban

• Ground Zero by Alan Gratz

• Cooks Cook by Gavin Bishop

• Scar town by Tristan Bancks

These six books were based on adventure and history as we answered a series of 6 questions that lead to detail and greater depths that we would have never thought of. Overall Trinity had an outstanding score for the first time competing in the competition and having no idea on what to expect.

We can’t wait to see who will be joining in 2027, and we are excited to see how far Trinity can go. Well done Team Trinity!
