Book Week Year 7-9 Chalk Art Challenge!
By Katie Montgomery | Posted: Wednesday June 24, 2026
Our Year 7–9 students teamed up into our annual Book Week tradition of the ReDesign a Book Cover Chalk Art Challenge. Working in teams of four, students carefully planned their designs focusing on symbolism, typography, and color before heading outside to transform a 1x2m space into a literary masterpiece.
The results were outstanding! Our guest judge this year was Molly Kirk, our school’s Y13 Academic Prefect, who was incredibly impressed by the teamwork, imagination, and effort put into bringing these favourite stories to life.
This year's winners from each cohort received a $5 canteen voucher each which was presented to them at junior assembly this week.
The winners for each year group are listed below.
Year 7: Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White
Flo Dummer, Eniya Baby, Stella Boereboom and Ruby Peyroux
Year 8 Winners: Into the Pit (Five Nights at Freddy's) by Scott Cawthon
8KEN - Sammy Cotter, Kaitlyn Hsu, Charlotte Patterson and Nahoa Fox
Year 9: A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon
9MONT - Sam McCook, Evelyn Mosley, Wai Waihape and Mckenzy White
A big congratulations to all our Yr7-9 students for getting involved and bringing Book Week to life! Your incredible chalk art was a truly vibrant, visual highlight around our school last week.
