Makensie Waddell

Dance and Drama Teacher

Talofa lava! My name is Makensie Waddell (Miss Makensie), and I am thrilled to be teaching Dance and Drama this year, alongside my role as the 12WAD kaiārahi.

Originally from Invercargill and a proud Verdon College alumna, I spent my youth immersed in the local Pasifika arts scene, including a cherished involvement with the Mīharo Cultural Trust. That foundation in community performance still drives me as a kaiako today. When I’m not in the classroom, you’ll find me performing in community musical theatre, writing penpal letters, or at a quiz night. I have truly loved my time at Trinity so far. Our students are incredibly talented, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to teach them. Thank you to parents and staff for providing such a warm and welcoming start to the year.

Rachael Turner

PE and Health Teacher

Kia ora everyone, my name is Rachael Turner and I am thrilled to be joining Trinity Catholic College as a PE and Health teacher. I was raised on a farm in Mossburn, and later was fortunate to move to Dunedin for my schooling and university studies, where I continued to grow my passion for health, sport, and education.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have been given the opportunity to teach at Trinity. My expectations have truly been exceeded. The students are kind, respectful, and enthusiastic, and the staff have been so welcoming and supportive. It has been such a positive and encouraging start.

Outside of work, I enjoy keeping active myself and making the most of the outdoors, and playing sports. I am really looking forward to building strong relationships with students, supporting them in their learning, and getting to know everyone both in the classroom and out on the sports field. I am excited to be part of the Trinity community and for the years ahead.

Kind Regards,

Rachael
