On December 1st, 2nd and 3rd, Trinity Catholic College First XI Cricket team competed in the annual St Kevin's coordinated Cricket Tournament in Oamaru. On Day one we played Waitaki Boys and gave them an absolute thrashing - batting first we made 350 for 6 off our 40 overs with Thomas McEntyre retiring on 124, not out. A fantastic hundred and one for ages. Sam Marslin 60, Joe Burke 26, and Daniel Thompson 53 not out, all contributing well with the bat. In reply we bowled out Waitaki for 74 with Lucus Jago taking 3-13, Jake Lucas 2-15 and Jimmy MacKenzie 2-14 .
On Day 2 we played a combined schools team from Christchurch in a T20 game. Trinity batted first and made it through to 100 for 7 on a challenging pitch - Jimmy MacKenzie top scoring with 26, Leo Innes batted well at the end with 11 not out to get us through the 20 overs. In reply we bowled the North West youth team out for a paltry 27. Jimmy Mackenzie taking 4 for 3 off 3.3 overs, and Lucas Jago 3 for 3, Sam Marslin chipped in with 2 wickets, and Leo Innes bowled well for his 1 wicket.
Unfortunately day 3 was washed out against John McGlashan College in Dunedin. Thanks to Tony McEntyre and Michael & Sonia Jago for their support over the 3 days of the tournament.
Our last game for Trinity is this Saturday December 6 vs Logan Park High School at Opoho Park (1pm). Get up there if you can to witness some fine cricket action.
