On Tuesday, 11th November, 21 students from Trinity Catholic College represented the school with pride at the Otago Athletics Championships, held at the Caledonian Ground. Blessed with a beautiful day, our athletes were neatly spread across both track and field events, showcasing excellent participation and sportsmanship throughout.

In the field events, there were some standout performances. Eamon Henderson placed 3rd in the high jump, with Julia Kendrick and Sammy Cotter also earning podium finishes, claiming 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in their high jump divisions. Harris O’Sullivan produced a remarkable throw of 25.57 metres to take out 1st place in the discus.

On the track, several students advanced to finals, demonstrating great determination and skill. Tomasi Tilli and Sammy Cotter both qualified for the hurdles final, while Tommy McEntyre impressed with a 2nd place finish in the hurdles, 3rd in the 100m sprint, and 5th in the 800m. Iyla Bradley continued her strong form, earning 2nd place in the 80m sprint.

We also had four relay teams competing, each executing seamless transitions. At the end of the long, hot day, Ruby Duncan, Paul Bertoli, Eamon Henderson and Tommy McEntyre gave one final display of endurance and commitment as they took on the 800m.

It was a fantastic day of competition and a wonderful representation of Trinity Catholic College. Congratulations to all students who took part for their effort, enthusiasm, and support of one another throughout the day.
