Special Character Report: Magnifica Humanitas

Magnifica Humanitas is Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical, published in 2026. Its full title is On Safeguarding the Human Person in the Time of Artificial Intelligence. The encyclical discusses how artificial intelligence and technology are changing society and reminds us that technology should serve people rather than replace or devalue them. Pope Leo focuses on human dignity, truth, work, justice, peace and the common good.

This quote stood out to me because it reminds us that no matter how advanced technology becomes, it cannot replace what makes us human. AI can process information and complete tasks, but it cannot truly love, care for others or make moral decisions in the same way a person can. It makes me reflect on how important it is to use technology wisely while remembering the value of human relationships, compassion and conscience.

Dear God

Thank you for creating each person with dignity, purpose and love. Help us to use technology wisely and responsibly, never allowing it to replace our compassion, relationships or responsibility towards others. Guide us to protect those who are vulnerable and to always choose what is good, just and truthful. Help us remember that being human is a gift, and teach us to use the gifts of technology to serve others and build a better world.
