Susana Mafi recently received two prestigious awards at Southern Rugby prizegiving – Most Promising Junior Female Player and Best Southern Female Player 2023.

Susana Mafi is a naturally gifted sportswoman who is in her third year of rugby in 2023 at Southern Rugby Club. She started playing 10 aside rugby in 2021 alongside her younger brother, George Mafi.

From when Susana first picked up the ball at Southern she demonstrated a genuine love and affinity for the game of rugby.

Over the last three seasons she has grown her skill set, striving to improve her game and that of her team.

This year she moved to 15aside full field rugby. In a mixed grade of Year 7&8’s her confidence grew and her talents shone.

She stepped up her learning and demonstrated her natural ball skills, balanced running and devastating tackling, especially of boys running straight at her, never hesitating to make the tackle.

Her skills and ability are clearly well above average and if she sticks with rugby the club is excited to follow her progression likely into future representative teams.

Her all-round skills and abilities and contribution to the team have to led Susana Mafi being presented with two prestigious awards – Most Promising Junior Female Player and Best Southern Female Player 2023.
