Netball Success at the Barbara Bell Tournament

The Senior A has always attended this tournament in preparation for the South Island Secondary Schools Netball Champs in two weeks, where they currently play in B grade. This year, for the first time, they entered A grade for Barbara Bell because they know that to get better, they need to play better teams.

The team was thrilled to come away with 5th place. With three losses in pool play, the girls were determined, so in the first crossover, they beat Māruawai, a team ranked well above them in the South Island. Then, in their final, they beat a South Island A grade team, St Peter's College Gore, having lost to them earlier in pool play. This has helped their confidence leading into Saturday's final and the Nelson tournament.

It was really exciting to have the Senior B's join us for the first time. It is a positive step towards developing our depth in netball. Our B team is also playing off for 1st in a Premier Secondary grade this Saturday, so participation at Barbara Bell was important for their preparation, and a nice way to end their season as a team. It was a tough day at the office with some close scores, but no wins. However, they fought hard, played consistently and never dropped their heads.

Both teams were great ambassadors for the school, and we wish them well for their Saturday netball finals.
