Tuesday evening, 15th August, saw teams of Classical Studies scholars come together in a quiz hosted by the Classics Department at the University of Otago.

Trinity Catholic College entered teams into the Intermediate and Junior competitions.

A Year 9 team of four involving Heath Kettish, Keziah Porthouse, Harrison Rich, and Luke Wild were named Dionysus’ Dolphins.

Two Year 7/8 teams entered. One team involved Julian Osland, Will Paterson, and Mina Suwanarusk named Apollo’s Arrows. The other team, The Olympians, was made up of Thomas Walker, Austin Gillespie, and Kaila Rioveros.

The teams had to answer questions about Greek and Roman mythology, history, the Otago Museum collection, Greek alphabet, art, and important historical figures.

At the end of the evening, The Olympians were tied for third and Apollo’s Arrows won the competition, taking the first place trophy for the Intermediate Competition back to Trinity Catholic College.

Well done to all of those who participated.
