CO2 Dragsters Delight

During the first semester, Year 7 and 8 students in the CO2 Dragster option have worked hard designing and forming their dragster body from a block of balsa wood, creating an original colour scheme and then adding wheels and axles to complete their concept for “Trinity’s Fastest Dragster”

Excitement was high on race day when the rubber hit the road. The dragsters where electronically timed down the 20m dragstrip, and the fastest designs were revealed.

Third place went to Zak Harrison with a time of 0.693 seconds, second to Thomas Crawford with 0.672 seconds, and this year’s winner was Miquel Dimaano with a time of 0.645 seconds and an average speed of 103km/hr!

The record of 0.621 set by Paul Bertoli in 2024 still stands however, and ready to be challenged by the next cohort of dragster designers.
