Trinity Returns to The Big Sing

There are 26 students in the Trinity choir from Year 7 right through to Year 13 and they presented “I Will Sing With the Spirit” by Sir John Rutter, “Tebe Poem” (“We Praise Thee”) by Tchaikovsky (which they sang in Russian), and “Pōkarekare Ana”, a traditional Māori waiata arranged by Douglas Mews.

A huge thank you to ex-student Ewen Clarke-Wallace who has been directing the Trinity choir - Trinitones - all year. The group has been meeting after school every Tuesday with some additional practices in the lead up to The Big Sing - and their hard work and commitment were very evident when they performed on Monday.

Thanks also to ex-student Tobias Devereux who accompanied the choir for the first piece (the others were sung a cappella ) and to Mr Grant and Ms Watts who oversaw the choir in Term 1 and Term 2 respectively.

At the end of the Big Sing Gala Concert, the Trinity choir students and Ewen were thrilled to be awarded the Isabel Chetwin Trophy (for the best newcomer choir), while Ewen received the NZCF Conductor’s Award.
