Special Character Report
By Special Character Prefects | Posted: Friday February 20, 2026
This Wednesday (Ash Wednesday) marked the beginning of Lent. Lent isn’t just a season in the Church calendar; it is an invitation. An invitation to reflect honestly and introspectively on ourselves, amidst a loud and busy world – an invitation to grow in character.
Often we can find ourselves focusing on external success; achievement, recognition, reputation. While these things aren’t inherently bad, Lent redirects our focus inward. It challenges us to think about the deep questions: Where do I lack peace? Where can I choose kindness instead of pride? Growth is accelerated not when we are forced to change, but when we choose to grow.
Ash Wednesday reminds us all of our humanity. We are not perfect, we make mistakes. Yet God gives us the opportunity to try again. This is the purpose of Lent - renewal, not shame.
Closing Prayer
Lord God,
As we enter this season of Lent, help us to slow down and listen.
Teach us to choose peace over pride, patience over frustration, and kindness over judgement.
Give us the courage to reflect honestly on who we are,
and the humility to grow into who You are calling us to be.
In moments of noise, be our stillness.
In moments of weakness, be our strength.
Shape our hearts quietly, and guide us to become better versions of ourselves — not for recognition, but for You.
Amen.
