2027 AgriKidsNZ and FMG Junior Young Farmer of the Year contest

Kia ora koutou,

We hope you’ve all had a great break and are looking forward to Term 4!

Registrations for the 2027 AgriKidsNZ and FMG Junior Young Farmer of the Year contest series are now open!

These contests are a great opportunity for young people to team up with their mates, put their skills and knowledge to the test, and compete against other teams at the Otago Southland Regional Event on Saturday 13 February 2027.

• AgriKidsNZ: For ages 8–13

• FMG Junior Young Farmer of the Year: For ages 13–18

Both contests feature a range of modules and challenges where teams earn points by demonstrating their practical skills and knowledge. The top-performing teams then progress to the final stages of the competition. For AgriKidsNZ, the top seven teams compete in the Race-Off, while the top five Junior teams go head-to-head in the Face-Off quiz.

These final stages determine who progresses towards the 2027 FMG Young Farmer of the Year Grand Final in Christchurch.

I’ve attached a pamphlet with more information about both contests.

We’d appreciate it if you could share this opportunity with any students who might be interested in getting involved! If you or your students would like to find out more, please feel free to contact me for FMG Junior Young Farmer of the Year or Bronte for AgriKidsNZ.
