Queenstown Adventure for our International Students

Twenty of our international students took advantage of the long Kings Birthday weekend to explore Arrowtown and Queenstown. And what a great trip it was!
We set out from a very stormy and windy Dunedin first thing on Saturday morning for the drive through Central Otago. Fortunately the weather steadily improved the further inland we went and by the time we stopped in Cromwell for lunch we were in bright sunshine.
The first activity was a great stretch of the legs via an excellent walk up and around the 45th Parallel Track at Lowburn. Next stop was the AJ Hackett Kawarau Bungy Centre with the students enjoying a go on the zipline and watching the bungy. We continued on to our accommodation at the Arrowtown Camping Ground and settled in for the night.
Sunday morning dawned bright and sunny. We spent the morning explored Arrowtown and the Chinese Gold Mining village, had a look around the excellent Arrowtown Museum including a great scavenger hunt, went gold panning in the Arrow River, and invaded the Remarkables Sweet Shop. A few gold specks were found but unfortunately no gold nuggets!
In the afternoon we drove into Queenstown. First stop was the Skyline Gondola and the stunning view from the top. Luge riding was a lot of fun and a highlight for many. After a look around Central Queenstown we made our way back to Arrowtown. Some very boisterous games of spoons helped fill in the evening.
On Monday morning we went back into Queenstown and enjoyed a thrilling ride over the lake and up the Kawarau River on the Thunder Jet. The last stop was back to the AJ Hackett Kawarau Bungy to watch 6 brave students and 1 brave teacher take the 45m plunge, before the drive back to Dunedin.
A huge thank you to Mr de Voss and Mrs Cameron for coming with us.
