October - The Month of the Rosary

October is traditionally known as the Month of the Rosary, a time when Catholics are encouraged to pray the Rosary and grow closer to God. Through the prayers, we reflect on the life of Jesus and Mary, reminding ourselves of the importance of faith, love and kindness. The Rosary also gives us a chance to slow down, find peace in our busy lives, and ask Mary to pray for us as we continue our journey with God.

The word rosary comes from Latin and means a garland of roses. The rose is a flower used to symbolise Mary the mother of Jesus. At the centre of the devotion, is the Hail Mary. It is repeated 150 times during the prayer. Rosary beads are used as counters to help maintain the rhythm as the prayers are prayed in sequence.
