Senior Student Volunteers needed for Science Festival 2025
By Administration | Posted: Monday June 16, 2025
The 2025 Dunedin International Science Festival is almost here!
The Festival runs from 28 June - 6 July. There are a range of volunteer opportunities available from hands-on event facilitation roles to ticket taking and general event support. The NZ SciFest team will try to match volunteers with a role that aligns to their interests, and if you sign up with a friend, we will try to assign you the same shift. We request that volunteers take on a minimum of 2 shifts during the Festival (between 4-8 hours in total) and require all volunteers to be at least 16 years old.
We are also seeking volunteers to assist with handing out programmes at the Farmers Market, Matariki celebrations, Mid Winter Carnival and Michelle Thaller’s school talk. So, if you are planning on going to those events and would like to take a bundle of programmes with you, please let us know.
Please complete our more in-depth online volunteer application. This is so we gauge which shifts you are available for and what you are interested in.
Once you've completed the application, we will be in touch about the next step in our application process: a 5-10 minute interview. At this interview we’ll get some paperwork sorted and discuss which specific volunteer roles might be a good fit for you. From there, you'll be allocated your days/times/events. This information will be emailed to you in the weeks leading up to Festival. For some volunteer positions, a training session will be made available prior to the event.
If you have any pātai/questions about volunteering with the Science Festival this year, don't hesitate to get in contact! Flick those questions through to volunteer@scifest.org.nz and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
You can check out our programme on our website! Further information about volunteer roles can be found at: https://scifest.org.nz/about/volunteer.
If you would like to speak with someone directly about the volunteer opportunities available please contact Vanessa at volunteer@scifest.org.nz.
Ngā mihi,
Vanessa Beck and The NZ SciFest Team
